Have you ever paused to imagine the final chapter of your homeschool journey? No matter where you are right now, the day will come when the last lesson is taught, the books are closed for the final time, and this beautiful season of life comes to a close. What do you want that day to look like? What do you want that day to feel like?
Your answer to those questions begins to define your homeschool vision. Vision is your ultimate why — it’s the driving purpose behind everything you’re doing. If we are to homeschool with purpose, confidence, and joy then we must be women of vision in our homeschools. Vision sparks creativity, ignites our determination, and keeps our focus on the goal when the routines of life feel rather monotonous.
So, where are you heading in your homeschool?
Let’s look forward again to the day your student graduates. I encourage you to grab a pen and paper and jot down your answers to these questions:
- How do you want your student to feel about their education after they’ve graduated?
- How do you want to feel about your season as a homeschool mom when this chapter closes?
- What memories do you hope your student will carry with them?
- How do you hope they’ll describe their homeschool experience to friends or future colleagues?
- When it’s all said & done in your homeschool, what will you consider success?
Now, look back through your answers. What stands out to you? What priorities do you see in your answers?
The beautiful thing about this exercise is that it provides clarity for where we want to end up. Once we have clarity we are able to step back in to today and ask ourselves:
What is one small thing I can do today to help us step towards my vision, my goal, for the end of our journey?
With vision in hand you may find that this question now generates excitement and creativity. It will help you troubleshoot sticky areas and gives you clarity for what you’re really working towards.
So, let me ask you again friend, where are you heading in your homeschool? Let your vision fill you with renewed purpose and excitement as you write your journey one day, one lesson, and one memory at a time. Every small step forward is a meaningful part of your homeschool story—one filled with confidence, purpose, and joy.
